- 1 cup basmati rice
- ¾ cup Moong Lentil
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ½ medium onion sliced
- 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp kosher salt or as needed according to your taste.
- 1½ cup water
Whole spices
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 4 cloves
- 1 black cardamom
- 10 black peppercorn
- 2 dry long pepper
- 1 cinnamon stick
In a medium-size pot, on medium heat, add oil, and let it heat up.
Add onion, sauté until brown.
Now add whole spices.
Sauté them for 10 seconds.
Add ginger garlic paste.
Next add Moong lentils and mix well for 30 seconds.
Now add water, bring it to a boil.
Add rice and salt.
Bring it to boil.
Cover and let it cook for 7-8 minutes or until the water evaporates.
Now turn it heat on low for 5 min.
Serve with Achar, Green Chutney and Kachumber.
