Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • ¾ cup Moong Lentil
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ medium onion sliced
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp kosher salt or as needed according to your taste.
  • cup water

Whole spices

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 10 black peppercorn
  • 2 dry long pepper
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  • In a medium-size pot, on medium heat, add oil, and let it heat up.
  • Add onion, sauté until brown.
  • Now add whole spices.
  • Sauté them for 10 seconds.
  • Add ginger garlic paste.
  • Next add Moong lentils and mix well for 30 seconds.
  • Now add water, bring it to a boil.
  • Add rice and salt.
  • Bring it to boil.
  • Cover and let it cook for 7-8 minutes or until the water evaporates.
  • Now turn it heat on low for 5 min.
  • Serve with Achar, Green Chutney and Kachumber.
  • Enjoy!
