In a skillet or pot, on medium heat, add oil and then let it heat up.
Add cumin seeds, black peppercorns, green cardamom, dried red peppers, and cloves.
Let it sizzle for 20 second while sautéing them.
Add onion and sauté until it's lightly golden.
Then ginger garlic paste and serrano pepper and mix well.
Add tomato and mix well.
Add coriander powder, red chili powder, and 2 pinche of salt.
Mix in drained dal from the Instant pot.
Mix it up, cover the lid and turn the heat on low for 10 min. This step will cook and dry up the excess water from the tomato and lentil.
Check the salt according to your taste add more if needed to suit your taste.
Garnish with lemon juice, ginger, garam masala powder, and cilantro.
