Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle gourd (Lauki)
  • cup split chickepea chana dal
  • cup olive oil or any neutral oil
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 tomato

Whole spices

  • 2 black cardamoms
  • 4 green cardamoms
  • 5 black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 cloves

Salt and powdered spices

Instructions

  • Soak the lentil over night.
  • In an Instant Pot, on sauté mode, add oil, let it heat up.
  • Add green pepper and whole spices.
  • Next add onion and brown the onion.
  • Add tomato and ginger garlic paste.
  • Mix well.
  • Add lentil and water.
  • Mix well.
  • Let it come to a boil.
  • Cover the lid, and select pressure for 3 minutes.
  • Vent the steam out.
  • Add bottle gourd (lauki) and mix well.
  • Close the lid and pressure for 2 minutes.
  • Vent the steam out.
  • Garnish with mint and cilantro.
  • Enjoy!
