Quick 1-Minute Homemade Doodh Soda is milk mixed together lemon-flavored soda. It's quick, easy, and refreshing.
WHAT IS DOODH SODA?
Quick 1-Minute Doodh Soda is a mix of milk and lemony soda, like Sprite. It started in England, was brought to India by the British, and became popular in Pakistan. Now, it’s known as a traditional Indian/Pakistani drink recipe, though I think the British seem to have forgotten it. Haha!
This drink is a staple in Pakistan during Ramadan, especially for Iftar, and is as popular as Sweet Lassi. In Karachi, it’s commonly sold by street vendors, though I’ve never tried it from them—I prefer making it at home. This Indian/Pakistani recipe is one of my dad’s favorite drinks.
I LOVE DOODH SODA BECAUSE...
- It’s an easy and quick way to whip up a cooling drink.
- Refreshing and perfect for the summer months, it’s an ideal choice for Iftar and tastes amazing!
INGREDIENTS
- Milk: I used whole milk, but 2% works just as well.
- Sprite: I went with Sprite since it’s the traditional choice, but 7Up is a great substitute.
- Sugar and Ice: Just two tablespoons of sugar and yes! You can substitute honey but the taste will differ and half a cup of ice for a refreshing chill.
