    Tender Homemade Pakistani Beef Karahi cooked on the stovetop, this tomato-based curry features boneless beef, homemade Karahi Masala, and warming spicesโ€”all without using yogurt. Packed with bold flavors, itโ€™s perfect when served with chapati or naan.

    You can call me theย โ€œQueen of Karahis.โ€ย Back in my college days, whenever Iโ€™d come home for the weekend, my mom would hand me the wok and say, โ€œLetโ€™s see what kind of Karahi magic youโ€™ve learned this time.โ€

    Iโ€™d experiment with spices, try new twists, and soon enough, Karahi nights becameย my thing. Now, every time that sizzle hits the pan, it takes me right back to those evenings โ€” laughter in the kitchen, the aroma of ginger and garlic, and that feeling of home wrapped in every bite. I miss home where my siblings and me stay under the same roof.

    Since getting married, I always make sure to have Karahiโ€”whether chicken, mutton, or beefโ€”at any dinner I host. It's my go-to dish when I'm unsure about what to make, and I always keep homemade Karahi masala on hand.

    HOW TO COOK BEEF KARAHI?

    Add oil and beef.
    Next add green pepper and whole spices.
    Mix well.
    Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste
    Add onion.
    Then add tomatoes.
    Then add Homemade Karahi Masala.
    Cilantro.
    Now pressure it.
    It should look like this. Now let it cook until the gravy becomes thick.
    Garnish with cilantro and ginger.

    Equipment

    • Instant Pot

    Ingredients

    • 1 lbs beef
    • โ…“ cup olive oil
    • 4 tbsp ginger garlic paste
    • 2 green peppers slitted
    • 4 tomatoes
    • 1 tbsp tomato paste
    • 3 tbsp Homemade Karahi Masala
    • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
    • 1 onion finely chopped
    • 1 tbsp cilantro

    Whole spices

    • 2 green cardamom
    • 1 black cardamom
    • 1 cinnamon stick

    Garnish

    • 1 tbsp cilantro
    • 1 inch ginger julienne

    Instructions

    • In an Instant Pot, on sautรฉ mode, add oil and let it heat up.
    • Add beef and sautรฉ the beef for 3 to 4 minutes.
    • Next add ginger garlic paste and mix well for 2-3 minutes.
    • Add onion and mix well.
    • Next place the whole tomatoes in the Instant pot along with tomato paste.
    • Mix everything well for 3-4 minutes.
    • Next add homemade karahi masala and mix well for 2-3 minutes.
    • Now add fresh lemon juice and cilantro and mix well.
    • Close the lid, select pressure, pressure it for 25 minutes or until the beef is tender.
    • Vent the steam out and open the lid.
    • The gravy would be runny.
    • Give it a good mix.
    • Then let it cook on sautรฉ mode for 5 minutes or until the gravy thickens.
    • Garnish with ginger and cilantro.
    • Serve it immediately with a hot naan or chapati.

      Hello again! I posted earlier this year on your Chicken Karahi recipe post; I loved that recipe, and I was now interested in trying this version of Beef Karahi (in my Instant Pot) with fresh Qurbani beef that arrived during Eid last monthโ€ฆ

      OMG, this recipe was an even bigger hit with my husband than the chicken recipe!!!

      He loves beef curries (or anything beef), and he also loves Pakistani/Indian dishes from restaurantsโ€ฆ with your blend of homemade spices, and listing precisely the rest of the ingredients, and following your detailed instructions (with pictures as well as watching the video), this recipe hit the spot for him and me, not to mention how easy and less time consuming it was to make this! My daughter loved the gravy sauce! Thank you very much for sharing this treasure!
