WHAT IS CHICKEN TIKKA SAMOSA?
Discover how to make delicious Crispy Homemade Chicken Tikka Samosa Recipe (Video). These samosas are filled with tender chicken tikka, wrapped in a perfectly shaped triangular pastry. Unlike store-bought versions, such as those from Trader Joe's, this Pakistani recipe stands out with its homemade Tikka spice blend, delivering an authentic burst of natural flavors without any artificial additives.
Originating from the rich traditions of North India and Pakistan, this dish is a standout appetizer that highlights the flavors of Pakistani cuisine. Ideal for serving during Iftar in Ramadan or to welcome guests, these samosas will impress with their crisp texture and flavorful filling.
WHY MAKE THIS RECIPE?
- It surpasses the Trader Joe's rendition of Chicken Tikka Samosas.
- This makes for an excellent Pakistani appetizer recipe.
- It derives its rich, natural flavors from our homemade Tikka masala.
- Indulge in the ultimate experience with these triangular-shaped pastry samosas filled with chicken tikka.
TIPS
- You can use vegetable oil for frying, but I personally prefer olive oil.
- If you want to try a healthier option, you can use an air fryer or toaster oven—just make sure to use a baking sheet or air fryer liner.
- If you don't have ginger garlic paste, ginger powder and garlic powder work as good substitutes.
- When folding the samosas, cover any unused sheets with a damp paper towel to stop them from drying out.
- For the perfect fold and crispy texture, always use two sheets when wrapping the samosas.
INGREDIENTS
- Homemade Tikka Masala- I strongly recommend using homemade tikka masala because the store-bought one differs the taste.
- Chicken- I have used chicken breast for this recipe but chicken thighs can easily be substituted.
- Ginger garlic paste- I prefer the homemade ginger garlic paste but store-bought can easily be substituted.

HOW TO STORE THEM?
Of all the freezer-friendly Pakistani recipes on the blog, this one is particularly versatile. To freeze, simply arrange the samosas in a single layer inside a ziplock bag, leaving about a ¼ to ½-inch gap between each one.
Safely seal the ziplock bag and place it horizontally in the freezer, ensuring that the samosas do not touch. Let them freeze for a duration of 30 to 60 minutes. After this initial freezing period, you can space them more liberally in the freezer, as they will no longer stick together, even if they come into contact.
WHICH SAMOSA SHEETS TO USE?
Over the years, my mother and I have embarked on a quest to find the perfect bed sheets. However, our search came to a triumphant end when we discovered this particular set due to its exceptional quality. I've included an image below to showcase the one I wholeheartedly recommend.
WHAT TO PAIR THIS RECIPE WITH?
Chicken Tikka Samosa also usually pairs well with Cilantro Chutney (Green Chutney) or Khatti Meethi Chutney.
