WHAT IS CHICKEN JALFREZI?
Juicy and Flavorful Pakistani Chicken Jalfrezi features succulent pieces of boneless chicken simmered in a rich powdered spiced and bell pepper gravy with a tantalizing blend of a unique kick from the powdered spice creating a flavor explosion that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. It also mildly spiced in flavor just like other Pakistani dinner recipes like Tamatar Gosht, Butter Chicken, and Kadhi Pakora.
WHAT DOES JALFREZI MEAN?
The word "Jalfrezi" originates from Urdu (language spoken in Pakistan) Jhal meaning 'spicy' and frezi means 'stir-fry'. With that said I made this recipe mild spicy, not hot spicy.
WHICH CHICKEN CUT IS THE BEST FOR JALFREZI?
Chicken breast is chopped up into bite-sized pieces, or chicken thigh is used. I have never cooked chicken quarters bone-in with Chicken Jalfrezi.
INGREDIENTS
Chicken- Like I said before highly recommended using chicken breast or thigh for this recipe.
Bell pepper- Any color of bell peppers will do great for this recipe.
Powdered spices- This recipe is all about a distinct flavor, the mixture of powdered spices will achieve a unique flavor (notice no whole spices in this recipe.)
HOW TO MAKE CHICKEN JELFREZI?
WHAT TO SERVE AND PAIR IT WITH?
Chicken Jalfrezi go hand in hand with white basmati rice but also can be eaten with chapati or Naan. Pair this recipe with Charsi Karahi, Seekh Kababs, Pakistani Beef Biryani (Instant Pot). Don't forget traditional dessert like Zarda, Kheer, or Meethi Seviyan (Sweet Vermicelli).
