If you grew up in Pakistan or South Asia, you probably already know and love Rooh Afza—that classic syrup that instantly cools you down. It’s basically summer in a glass and a must-have during Iftar. The best part? You can whip it up in just 5 minutes! Today I’m sharing two super easy ways to enjoy it—one with milk and one with water.
5-Minute Homemade Rooh Afza Drink is a popular rose-flavored beverage. Rooh meaning 'soul' and Afza meaning 'uplighting' so put them together it's like uplighting or nourishing the soul.

When I was little, summers meant one thing—Rooh Afza. My mom would mix it with ice-cold water after we came in from playing outside, and it felt like the most refreshing thing in the world. Sometimes we’d even pour it over crushed ice, like our own homemade snow cones. To this day, just one sip takes me right back to those carefree summer evenings.

When I think back to my childhood, one of the coziest memories is how my mom handled unexpected guests. She always had a hidden stash of Shami Kababs in the refrigerator, like she was secretly prepared for any surprise. The moment the doorbell rang, she’d head to the kitchen, and soon the sound of frying would drift through the house, followed by that mouthwatering aroma we all knew so well.

She’d set the table with hot, crispy kababs and tall, frosty glasses of Rooh Afza, their ruby-red color shining against the ice. To me, that pairing became the taste of hospitality, love, and home. Even now, whenever I sip Rooh Afza, I can almost hear the sizzle of kababs and see my mom’s smile as she welcomed people in.
