Stovetop Fish Tikka With Homemade Tikka Masala is an easy recipe—simply marinate the fish with homemade Tikka Masala and a few ingredients, then fry to perfection.

    WHAT IS FISH TIKKA?

Stovetop Fish Tikka with Homemade Tikka Masala features fish marinated in a flavorful Homemade Tikka Masala and a few simple ingredients, then skewered and shallow-fried on the stovetop. This can be a main entree or appetizer recipe. It's mild spiced just like Chicken Tikka.

This recipe originated in Northern India and became a cherished dish in Pakistan. Today, it's widely popular, featured in nearly every authentic restaurant, and often served as a wedding appetizer, especially during winter.

Fish Tikka has been close to my heart since childhood, when I lived in Pakistan. My maternal grandmother made the most delicious Fish Tikka, and this Pakistani/Indian recipe remains one of my fondest food memories of her.

    STEPS IN FISH TIKKA...

    1. In a bowl, add Fish and the ingredients listed.
    2. Marinate for 30 minutes.
    3. Shallow fry it.

    INGREDIENTS

    • Fish – I used cod for this recipe, but you can substitute it with salmon, tilapia, or any fish of your choice.
    • Tikka Masala – I use homemade Tikka Masala for its preservative-free freshness.
    • Mustard Oil – This is a traditional ingredient often used in tandoori and tikka recipes for authentic flavor.
    • Homemade Yogurt – It helps tenderize the fish, though store-bought yogurt works as a substitute.

    HOW TO MAKE FISH TIKKA?

Marinate the fish with the ingredients.

Place the marinated fish on skewers.

Shallow fry on all sides. Enjoy!

    HOW TO STORE IT?

Fish Tikka can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. It can also be frozen for 1-2 months. When ready to eat, simply reheat it on the stovetop or in a toaster oven.
