WHAT IS TOMATO CHUTNEY?
Quick 15-Minute Tomato Chutney , also known as 'Tamatar Ki Chutney', is a richly flavorful condiment, widely enjoyed in India and has also become popular in Pakistan, although it may not be as widely embraced there.
This Indian/Pakistan dip recipe requires few ingredients. It's so easy and quick to come together. This is one of the few dip recipes that requires ginger garlic paste. It's made freshly ripe tomatoes. This is a savory dip just like Pudina Chutney, Green Chutney, and Garlic Chutney.

INGREDIENTS
- Tomatoes- Make sure your tomatoes are fresh and ripe.
- Black caraway (Kalongi)- I like to add Kalongi to this recipe.
- Black salt- use for subtle tangy flavor.
- Green pepper and cilantro- These two ingredient must be fresh.
- Dried long red pepper- would enhance the flavor and give it a hint of spiciness.
HOW TO MAKE TOMATO CHUTNEY?
Add oil, kalongi and dried long pepper to a fry pan.
Next add the tomatoes.
Add powdered spices and salt.
Now add in cilantro, green pepper, and fresh lemon juice.
Dish it in a bowl or store it in an air-tight container.

HOW TO STORE IT?
Store Tomato Chutney in an airtight container; it will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Note that this recipe is not suitable for freezing.

Quick 15-Minute Tomato Chutney
Ingredients
- 4 medium tomatoes
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp cilantro chopped
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- ½ green pepper
Whole spices
- ¼ tsp caraway seeds kalongi
- 1 dried long red pepper
Powdered spices
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp black salt
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- In a medium-size fry pan on medium heat add oil and let it heat up.
- Add the whole spices.
- Sauté for 20 seconds.
- Add ginger garlic paste, sauté for 10 seconds.
- Next add tomatoes and mix well for 3 minutes or until tomatoes softens.
- Add powdered spices and salt and mix well for 2 minutes.
- Now add cilantro, green pepper, and fresh lemon juice.
- Mix for 5 minutes.
