Sweet and Tangy Mixed Chaat is a quick, no-cook Indian/Pakistani recipe as long as you have the ingredients prepped. Itโs easy to make, fast, and absolutely delicious.
WHAT IS MIX CHAAT?
Sweet and Tangy Mixed Chaat is a quick, no-cook recipe. Itโs made with Black Chickpeas (Kala chana), spice-free fritters (Phulkiyaan from Dahi Baray), a yogurt blend, Khaati Meethi chutney, Green chutney, and topped with onion, tomato, green pepper, and sev.
This Pakistani/Indian appetizer is incredibly mouthwatering. Mixed Chaat is a delightful blend of tangy and sweet flavors that feels like love on a plate. I have to say, Iโve never had a truly great plate of chaat in any Desi restaurant across America, but I know how to make it like the chaat in Karachi.
Iโve come to realize I should stop searching for the authentic taste of Pakistani/Indian recipes in U.S. restaurants. Still, I can't help but keep hoping to one day find that traditional flavor I miss.
Mixed Chaat is a blend of tangy and sweet delicious mixture of ingredients. This is a perfect recipe for a party and also perfect for Iftar during Ramadan just like Samosa Chaat and Dahi Puri Chaat. If you love Chaat then you have to add this recipe to your collection of Chaats.
WHAT IS CHAAT?
"Chaat" comes from the Urdu/Hindi word "Lick". Chaat is savory and tangy yet sweet with the help ofย yogurtย blend.
INGREDIENTS
- Black Chickpeas โ I love using black chickpeas, but if you have garbanzo beans (chickpeas), those will work too. I just prefer the flavor of black chickpeas.
- Yogurt Blend โ This mildly spiced, mouthwatering mix combines tangy spices and sugar with yogurt for a perfect balance.
- Onion โ I used red onion, but white onion works as well. I find red onion has a bit more crunch.
- Khaati Meethi Chutney and Green Chutney โ Homemade chutneys are unbeatable, and these two are no exception!
HOW TO MAKE MIXED CHAAT?
In a small pitcher or bowl add yogurt, sugar, salt, and black salt and mix.
Now in a plate add black chickpeas.
Next add phulkiyaan (spice-free fritters)
Add the yogurt blend.
Now make a powdered spice mixture and mix well. Sprinkle on the yogurt blend.
Add the Khaati Meethi Chutney and Green Chutney.
Now add potatoes, onion, and tomato.
Add cilantro and green pepper.
Top it off with sev. Enjoy!
HOW TO STORE IT?
Mixed Chaat is not a freezer-friendly recipe, but it can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days before assembling. Simply assemble when you're ready to serve, and it will taste delicious. If by chance you have any leftovers (though I doubt it!), just refrigerate them.
